Operations Manager
At Upcountry Coffee we roast outstanding specialty coffee while prioritizing the protection of Hawaii's natural environment.

SPECIFIC OUTCOMES:
Ensure all clients receive their orders timely on a weekly basis.
Proactively coordinate and communicate client coffee orders with the Production Roaster to support the execution of the coffee production schedule.
Oversee and manage roastery cleaning protocol and supplies inventory.
POSITION MISSION:
The ideal candidate is someone who is both passionate about coffee and extremely detail-oriented. While it certainly helps to have prior coffee industry experience, it is not a requirement; we’ll provide all the training you’ll need. The production team at the roastery does the heavy lifting to keep our wholesale and e-commerce channels supplied with world class specialty coffee. The Production Manager will oversee fulfillment of orders from all sales channels, organize and maintain inventory of all production supplies, execute the roast schedule, and always strive for excellence in customer service.
YOUR DUTIES:
Timing: This job starts out at one day a week – Tuesday. With the the right work ethic, role could expand to two days a week or more.

Maintain clean and sanitary work environment at all times
Oversee fulfillment of orders for retail, wholesale, and e-commerce sales channels
Weigh, package, and ship roasted coffee in accordance with production orders
Ensure all production supplies are cleaned and properly organized on a daily and weekly basis (includes green and roasted coffee buckets, scoops, scales, racks, etc.)
Manage inventory and organization of packaging and shipping supplies (bags, sticker labels, boxes, tape, etc.)
Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the coffee roasters and roasting accessories
Execute all tasks with speed and precision
Communicate early and often with teammates to solve problems when they arise
Contribute thoughtful ideas and suggestions for improving operations
Happily assist the roastery team with various tasks as needed
[Potential role expansion] Serve as delivery driver to ensure all wholesale orders requiring physical delivery are delivered to clients throughout the island according to the company’s delivery schedule
[Potential role expansion] Act as a company representative with existing wholesale clients by answering questions and providing guidance during regular coffee deliveries, and by elevating client concerns to company ownership as necessary

Strong math and computer/tablet skills
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Eligible to work in the United States and 18 years of age or older
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Perform repetitive standing, stooping, bending at the waist, carrying heavy objects
Perform repetitive motion with the hands, wrists and forearms to operate grinders, packaging equipment, cleaning equipment, etc.
Ability to team-lift 70kg bags of coffee to waist level
Ability to repeatedly lift up to 20lbs unassisted
Ability to operate a pallet jack, handcart, heat sealer, and weigh and fill
Ability to detect and perceive the smell and flavor of coffee
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Exposure to a coffee production environment, including moderate noise and heat levels
WAGES & BENEFITS WE OFFER:
This is an independent contractor role paying $25/hr to start. We expect the role to require 8-10 hours per week (Tuesdays) and can scale up according to performance
