1% Donation: Hawaiʻi Land Trust
Every quarter, we donate 1% of our revenue to an organization doing outstanding environmental work in Maui and Hawaii.
Hawaii Land Trust
The backstory: We initial learned about HILT because we camp out on their protected lands as often as we can. As we learned more about the organization and volunteered ourselves, we were able to interact with their leadership… and we liked what we saw. As one of the primary organizations in Hawaii working to protect wild land from development, we could not be more behind their work.
Here’s what gets us excited about HILT
The 22,584 acres preserved across the state
Their recent protection of lands in Hana near Hamoa Beach, as well as Honokahau. These protections were a big deal.
Their “Talk Story” on the land educational experiences/field trips are super fun and we’ve learned a lot each time
Their restoration efforts on the lands they steward. We’ve watched the Waihe’e Dunes refuge undergo substantial restoration year after year.
The frequent volunteer opportunities available that allow locals and visitors to roll up their sleeves and get active on the land.
Expanding the camping opportunities in a state where public camping options are limited.
HILT Mission
Hawaiʻi Land Trust protects the lands that sustain Hawaiʻi, and teaches future generations to do the same.
